Attackers do not need to be inventive. Most successful breaches begin with a known weakness that simply went unpatched, unreviewed or unnoticed. A vulnerability assessment gives you a current, evidenced picture of those weaknesses across your estate, combining enterprise-grade automated scanning with consultant-led manual analysis.
on-premise servers, hybrid and multi-cloud estates, web applications and APIs, remote access, firewalls and the endpoints staff use every day. Automated output alone produces noise, so every finding is validated by a qualified consultant, checked for false positives and scored for real business impact.
Typical drivers we see include client security questionnaires, insurer requirements, ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials evidence, PCI DSS obligations, and simply a leadership team that wants to know where it stands before something goes wrong.
Each finding is recorded with its location, the technical detail, the business consequence if exploited, and a specific remediation step, so the report can be handed to a developer, an IT provider or an auditor without further interpretation. Where a finding is a false positive we say so and explain why, because noise in a report quietly erodes trust in the whole exercise. A debrief call follows every assessment, and a free retest confirms that the fixes you have made are genuinely live.
Vulnerability Assessments
"Automated and manual vulnerability scanning across your infrastructure, applications and network, with expert analysis, CVSSv3 scoring and prioritised remediation guidance."

enterprise-grade tooling including Tenable Nessus, Qualys and Burp Suite, combined with manual expert analysis, so findings reflect what is genuinely exploitable in your environment rather than raw scanner output.
every vulnerability is scored by severity, exploitability and potential business impact, then ranked alongside context such as internet exposure and data sensitivity, so effort goes where risk actually sits.
separate technical and executive reports, with step-by-step remediation guidance for every finding, including patch references, configuration changes and proof-of-concept detail your team can act on the same week.
an optional re-scan to confirm fixes are live, closing the loop on the cycle and giving you evidence for governance, audit and client assurance.
for organisations that need continuous coverage rather than a one-off snapshot, we can run scheduled scanning, track findings to closure and report monthly on movement against a baseline.
Scanning is scheduled outside trading hours where you prefer, with authenticated checks used to see what an attacker holding credentials would see rather than only what is exposed to the internet. Credentials are handled under a signed agreement and destroyed at the end of the engagement, and any critical finding is escalated to your named contact the same day rather than held for the final report. Scope is agreed in writing before testing begins, so nothing outside your estate is touched.

A structured engagement aligned with CHECK, CREST, PTES and NIST SP 800-115, delivered by UK-based certified consultants.
we agree the scope in writing, confirm the asset inventory, review network topology, arrange the access and credentials needed for authenticated scanning, and sign off the rules of engagement.
automated scans and manual testing across all in-scope systems, with every automated result validated, de-duplicated, enriched with context and scored by severity and business impact.
technical report, executive summary, a prioritised remediation roadmap with effort estimates, and a debrief call with your team to talk through the findings.
Critical and high findings are alerted to you within 48 hours of discovery rather than held to the end of the engagement, so the most serious issues can be addressed immediately. Everything is delivered under NDA, with no production data retained after the assessment.

Vulnerability assessment is not only for organisations with a security team. Most of our clients are businesses that need an independent, evidenced answer to a simple question: where are we actually exposed?
No internal security team is required. We work with a named contact who may be a finance director, an operations lead or an outsourced IT provider, and we translate the technical detail into decisions that person can actually make and fund. Where a client needs to demonstrate assurance to a customer, an insurer or a procurement process, the evidence pack from the assessment is written with that audience in mind.

If your question is not covered here, a consultant will answer it directly, with no sales script.
How long does an assessment take? Most single-estate assessments complete within two to five working days, depending on the number of hosts, applications and sites in scope. Larger or multi-site estates are broken into phases so findings reach you as they land rather than waiting for one report at the end.
Will scanning disrupt our systems? Authenticated scanning is scheduled with you, run within agreed windows and rate-limited to protect fragile services. Where a legacy system cannot tolerate scanning, we agree an alternative approach in writing during scoping rather than putting your operations at risk.
What is the difference between an assessment and a penetration test? An assessment looks broadly for known weaknesses across the estate and prioritises them. A penetration test deliberately chains weaknesses together to establish what an attacker could actually achieve. Assessment is the wider sweep, testing is the deeper proof, and many clients start with one before moving to the other.
How quickly are critical findings shared? Critical and high findings are alerted to you within 48 hours of discovery with a short written summary, so the most serious issues can be fixed while the rest of the report is being prepared.
Is a retest included? It can be, and we recommend it whenever critical or high findings are raised. A retest confirms the fixes are live and gives you evidence for auditors, insurers and clients at a fraction of the cost of the initial assessment.

regular assessment means weaknesses are found and fixed before an attacker finds them, and before a client, insurer or auditor does.
CVSSv3 scoring plus business context removes the guesswork, so critical risks are remediated first and finite internal resource is not wasted on cosmetic issues.
reports map findings to ISO 27001 Annex A controls, Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus, PCI DSS requirements and sector obligations, giving you evidence that stands up to scrutiny.
repeat assessments show measurable before-and-after progress, which is exactly what boards, clients and procurement teams increasingly ask to see.
if remediation exceeds what your team can deliver, we can implement the fixes with you, work alongside your IT provider, or step in as your managed security partner. Around 500 assessments delivered to date, with remediation guidance on every single finding.

Client reviews
We use Acorn Web Studio for all our website maintenance and SEO marketing for our car body shop repair business. Since they have taken over the SEO we have seen an increase in business locally, which is what we were after. We will soon have them redesign our website.

We are a UAE Dubai based business. We needed a new website built to showcase our products and provide information through our website to our clients. At the same time we required digital marketing to be carried out, in particular SEO and LinkedIn Marketing. We partnered with Acorn Web Studio in the UK because the agencies in the UAE let us down time after time. Since we started our working relation we have not looked back. They not only built our website but uploaded 100 products and improved our SEO Google position and LinkedIn profile.

Acorn Web Studio built our new website after we had several issues with our old one and had no support from our previous designer based overseas. They built us a new website and now support us with ongoing maintenance and SEO. Highly recommended.
